Restaurant Copas - Quebec City, Quebec

Surprisingly not busy on a Saturday night. We started with some tapas (Serrano ham, chorizo & manchego- no chorizo so they subbed Toulouse sausage but it was really good- and papas bravas- basically fries but w/the 2 sauces) and a pitcher of Sangria. Added the meat paella- again no chorizo ... but subbed another sausage. Paella tasted great but no a lot of meat in all, 2 ribs a chicken thigh and some slices of sausage. Awful experience. The service was slow but we were pacient because there was a lot of people but the paella was awful. For 33 dollars you get two shrimps, one chiken leg and some little pieces of sea food. No chorizo at all, even if we ask for the ... Paella of the Chef. The whole thing tasted and smelled as instant spices, the color was almost white and the consistency of the rice was mainly watery. Disgusting. Drinks and tapas were a lot worse. Read more

Dinner for 5 was excellent and a great end to our Carnaval 2020 experience. Steak was done to perfection. Paella, just exquisite. Seafood pasta was creamy and rich. The kids meals were a hit too. The pasta sauce tasted so fresh and the ribs were too good to share, so must ... take her word that they were "delicious". The staff was friendly and accomodating for our non-french speaking family. Great food and lots of it. Craft beers. Reasonable pricing for location. Attentive staff. Clean washrooms, which are downstairs, opposite side to kitchen. Nicely stocked bar.

I had a gazpacho with a seafood paella. The gazpacho was good, was missing a little olive oil, but good. The paella was cooked good, its not easy to make a good paella... Rice was cooked just right. The shrimps, scallops and mussels were good, but I found the lobster ... tail a bit small. Service was ok, I sat at the counter. Overall experience was good. Read more
