Au Pain Dore - Montreal, Quebec

We were visiting the Jean Talon Market and having breakfast at the Boulangerie Au Pain Doré. We ordered tart , croissant and coffee. All pastries were freshly made and very tasty.

The desserts I ordered this time were surprising. The lemon cake looks mundane and so is the first bite. However when I taste the filling I was stunned. The filling seems like sour cream but also with some yolk flavor. I really enjoy it. For the chocolate cake, it is ... extremely heavy because it is so solid and the flavor of chocolate is so dense, the bitter taste of chocolate is outstanding. Two impressive desserts. Read more

Best Matcha latte in Montreal. Sensational! It goes very well with a fresh butter croissant. Ask always for a ceramic cup (not a stupid paper one).

The pastries were delicious, and the staff were so nice! We got the portuguese egg tart, cannele swirl, pear and almond pastry, and apricot tart.

I ordered a raspberry tartelette (small pie) and a Long espresso, and my friend ordered a Viennoiserie (Danish) and a coffee. The coffee was ok, the dessert looked good at first. The tart's crust, however was damp (not fresh) and my friend noticed that one of the raspberries had green ... mold spots on it ! I took it inside and showed one of the employees the mould spots, and he simply said took it, and said "thank you for letting us know", that's it. He did not apologize for serving me rotten food, nor did he offer to exchange it for something else. Bottom line, a place that charges premium prices for for rotten food, and a mediocre service.
