Run, don't walk.... But in the other direction across the street. The lady was really kind but oh my gosh, I've had my fair share of bad food and bad/cheap portions but this is next level. I almost think it has to be intentional...you know. I feel so robbed, I paid ... 50 dollars (after tip) for two lemon grass vermicelli bowls. I really wish I had looked at the reviews before I ordered.. would not recommend ever which is unfortunate because I like supporting small businesses. Nice classic East Van Vietnamese restaurant. I like the #1 special spicy pho. Family run, tastes good.

I want to like this place but I still cannot recommend . 
Owner is friendly, but the food I’ve ordered is bland and pricey for Vietnamese. 
We tried this a number of years ago and found it pricey and bland, so never returned. Just tried it again today. This time ... for a quick Banh Mi sandwich. 
Since it was still in business I thought maybe it had improved. Sadly, does not seem like it has. 
These are traditional, staple of many Vietnamese restaurants. I lived on them when I was a college student - they used to be $2.50 20 years ago and most I’ve had were scrumptious- crisp bun, fresh veggies, good meat with flavour. This one was $10.50 and bland. I came late at night because it was one of the only places open and I actually had a really good time. It’s a family run place and the owners are friendly. I asked for suggestions and they gave a couple, they did try to upsell me a bit to ... get a spring roll too, but I really don’t mind that since plenty of other businesses do that and they clearly had passion for the food they put out. The portion was filling and I’m a big eater. Definitely worth checking out! Second time I came the broth wasn’t hot enough to cook the rare beef, but they were pretty busy when that happened. Cannot recommend this place. Bun bo hue was made with pho noodles and did not taste much different from the pho. Pho noodles were overcooked and the portion was small for the price. The vermicelli looked sad and was worst than food court Vietnamese food. Service was below average and ... she kept trying to up-sell us. Also the ventilation was not very good so your clothes end up smelling after. Now makes sense why no one was in there. Read more
