My friend and I were bi-monthly regulars here at Ryuu, prior to the Covid lockdown. Yesterday we went back after 2 years, and my goodness, were there changes! The service was slow, and both Bento Boxes we ordered for lunch, did not arrive to the table together. My ... friend had to wait about .15 min for his to arrive, while my box was almost finished. That's really bad. All entrée items should always be served together, and not staggered. There were only 15 or so patrons here for lunch, so no excuses. Shrink-Flation has hit hard here at Ryuu! We noticed the portions in the Bento Boxes are significantly smaller, and prices have gone up over $3.00 since January 2020. The quality and taste were both good. No complaints. If you're nearby and looking for sushi/ Izakaya style appetizers, this is a simple satisfying option. Prices reflect downtown, but nothing that will break the bank.

The server was really nice, and she was excited when we asked for suggestions about Sake (and she did a great job!), we didn't feel rushed and the food was good. We had a great time here!

The food was okz!! Salt was little less they should have some salt on the table.. waiter did mistake while giving us the bill. Luckily we noticed the difference and informed them.

Snuck in here on a whim. Had a hunch it might be delish. I'm a real snob about my Japanese food here in Western Canada.... being that I lived in Japan. Ryuu was a pleasant surprise. Fresh, light, tasty- very very good food. Great service. Happy smiles. I had the ... vegetarian lunch box with spinach gomae, light tempura veggies, fresh avocado & cucumber roll; perfect agedashi tofu (nice little portion too) ...and a light tasty salad with a tasty yuzu type dressing.
