Remi Patisserie - Vancouver, British Columbia

Visited the bakery a few days ago. The store is very small and only offers takeout, no dine-in. I tried their Crispy Salted Egg Yolk Financier, which was too sweet for my liking. The sweetness overpowered the salted egg yolk flavor, making it undetectable. The inside of the financier is ... cake-like, wrapped in a somewhat flaky skin. It might appeal to those who enjoy sweet croissants combined with muffins. I also tried the Matcha Éclair, which was my favorite. The mochi inside paired well with the crispy éclair and had a great matcha flavor. Additionally, I got their mango roll and matcha black sesame roll. Both were just alright; the sponge cake was not as spongy as I preferred, and the mango and matcha flavors were faint. The mango roll was the sweetest of the two. Their roll cake base is the same as their strawberry shortcake, so you can choose either to try for the first time. The strawberry shortcake was just okay, a bit sweeter than the rolls, with a lot of strawberry filling. As for their mochi, I got the black sesame mochi, hojicha mochi, and mango mochi. I loved the black sesame and mango mochi, but the hojicha mochi lacked flavor. I personally do not recommend this place, but it is a great spot to pick up some desserts for big groups. I was really excited for these pastries, as whatever article I read claimed they are the best in Vancouver. They were fine…. The Mont Blanc slice was super heavy and pretty flavorless, the filled cookie was also bland and didn’t hold together well. The salted egg yolk financier was fine ... but not really that exciting relative to the hype. The strawberry shortcake slice was fine, but not really worth going back for. Read more

If you haven’t tried their earl grey salted caramel mochi, you are missing out! You won’t regret it! It’s the best mochi ever. The texture the flavour - super satisfying!

It has been literally years since I had matcha eclair. It was in Hong Kong when I had it last time? Remi’s version is a fresh one with a crusty cookie-like shell that got its unique character. It’s topped with some beautifully decorated matcha cream. The matcha cream got some ... nice green colour with a subtle aftertaste. It’s great matcha, but I wish there’s more character to it. HIdden inside was a linear mochi that served a surprising (to me) chewy texture once I bite to it. I somehow think the eclair would do better with sweet red bean paste. Read more

I don’t know this cafe until my friend ordered their dessert for me! I tried the matcha mochi eclairs which became my favorite in this cafe! The mochi was soft and if you are matcha lover, you must have to try it! The matcha cream came with really strong flavor, ... the eclairs were well baked and had the appropriate texture. BTW, my sister loves their hojicha mochi as well. Overall we highly recommend this store! Read more
