Aphrodite’s Organic Pie Shop - Vancouver, British Columbia

Overall, the food was great, but the service was lacking (considering we spent $70 bucks on 2 dishes and a coffee). There were 4 servers and the restaurant was barely half-filled, yet we still ran into these issues: - We were long done with reading the menu (we took a while ... to decide too), yet no one came to take our orders until we had to get their attention - They forgot the coffee we ordered until we reminded them. Some small compensation would have been appreciated - After we were done with our food, no one came to take our plates. While we were waiting for them, I noticed some servers were trying to appear busy, like putting new utensils onto the empty tables (even though no one was coming in?), wiping counters, and walking around aimlessly not really doing anything for other customers. Nothing was majorly wrong, but consider the pricing of the food we expected better service. Top shelf breakfast! Nice corner location with large windows and lovely ambiance. The green eggs and ham was epic! Their specialty is pie.

*UPDATE* Their was a transition period between when the new owner took over and their was definitely some rough patches. For awhile It was hard to give Aphrodite’s a good rating. I’ve since seen the new owner (presumably) in the restaurant overseeing the operation on a daily basis and they ... have really turned things around. The french toast is definitely back to a standard that people learned to appreciate. They are quite accommodating to modifications and now the service team seems to ensure that they are inputted correctly. Overall It’s hard to meet the expectations of what this beloved Kitsilano gem used to be but I must give them credit where it is due. Read more

First time dining at Aphrodite's Organic Cafe (not to be confused with the stand alone Pie Shop diagonally across the street). They don't take reservations, and by 1 pm, most tables were occupied. Good selection of breakfast and lunch items! Had the Salt Spring Frittata. The rosemary home fries were a ... nice change from regular potato fries! Their homemade multigrain toast came in thick slices and tasted great with berry jam. My group thoroughly enjoyed our brunch. Capped off the meal with their pie. First off, the slices are huge and ideal for sharing given the price point! I tried some of their Banana Chocolate Cream Pie ($12.95) - it was creamy and loaded with flavour. I love this place, I’ve been coming here since 2015. Very good food, delicious, beautiful decor, good drinks, the smoothies and the sangria. Paige was our server and she was wonderful! Can’t wait to come back! 🥗🍷
