Horrible customer service. I went to Retsina today with my friend who lives right around the corner (30 second walk) and is a regular there. I have no complaints with the quality of the food however, after having the manager pack up my food and taking half of my meal ... home and finishing it later, I found a mosquito in the vinaigrette. I went back to the restaurant to show them and was startled at how I was approached. I quietly asked the manager to come over so I could explain to him what happened, he took it over to the bar where a bunch of his friends were sitting and the manager walked away and 3 of his friends began interrogating me. Things like: "seriously.. you're complaining over a bug.. a BUG?" and "where do you work?" (did not see the relevance) as well as, "if it was a hair I would understand, but it's just a bug" (questionable hygiene, especially with things such as west nile going around), etc. One guy said he would eat the bug now... as if that would make up for it being in my food. The very young manager took no interest, and did not even apologize. Their kitchen is right next to the open patio at the back and a mosquito probably flew in while the chef was cooking. Understanding these things happen, I was appalled at the fact the manager walked away and left it to his friends to belittle me. One of the guys sitting at the bar took out 15$ and was like "you're acting like you have an illness, take this" (I do have an illness which lowers my immune system). Besides the point, I was just startled at the unprofessional mannerisms of the manager and how he left me to argue with his apparent mates at the bar for at least 5 minutes. Understanding they are a smaller restaurant and the bug was found nearing the end of my meal, I would have been satisfied with an apology or some sort of action to show they even understand what customer service means. Unfortunately I will not be returning here next time I'm in Toronto, and they have also lost a regular customer. Read more
