A lot of people would call this type of restaurant a "greasy spoon" but I think that term is a great disservice to many a restaurant. Instead, I would say The Gingerman is a classic restaurant with honest food and simple service. I don't live in the area but was wanting ... breakfast and saw this place as i drove by. Since I enjoy this type of unpretentious mom & pop type places I knew it was best to turn around and give it a try. Serving sizes was generous and friendly staff. The place was not too busy when I arrived so service was quick and attentive with a comfortable atmosphere. Nothing fancy just honest food done traditionally (like they have done it for 40 or 50 years). Not sure about the choice of pictures on the walls. 90s corporate motivational type things. It's odd. I mean even going to a local second hand or garage sale for those landscape paintings have go to be better. In the end I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a classic Canadian breakfast in the east end of the city. Read more
