The Great Canadian Bagel - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

This place has great bagels with a large selection. They are delicious and fresh. The only real downside is that because the bagels are fresh, they may run out of the flavour you are looking for so keep another option handy.

I love the bagel shop every other day, however on this occasion (May 31st) service was terrible. My partner and I were the only ones in the store eating as 3 customers were lined up. You could hear the two girls talking and laughing in the back for 5 mins ... until one of the men in line went behind the counter to get their attention. The talking between the girls continued throughout service while customers were being served. Not surprisingly orders were messed up but the man in line said he had been waiting long enough so we would just take the bagel as is. Mine and my partners service was also sub par. It was rushed, my pickles were thrown in a bag and, we had to return the French onion soup as it was just stale beef broth with no cheese, bread, or onions. When we got a refund it was approached with attitude and much frustration from the attendant. Honestly I love the bagels, but today it was a very displeasing atmosphere and I will be begrudged to come back. Please work on your service at the bagel shop so I can write a good review. Read more

I went and picked up a dozen bagels to go at lunch time a couple of weeks ago.One girl taking care of order in front of me which took her about 7 minutes to make. In mean time another 4 people behind me. As well she had shoulder length hair ... that dangled down while she made lady in front of me her lunch! Another young girl wandering around from front to back with phone! Like really!! Busiest time and one girl!! I was tempted to leave while standing in line. Great food. I love the super bagels with a little cream cheese. The service is mixed. If you get the tall frantic guy he will hustle to make your order and have a good conversation. If you get the young lady you will be there for a while ... waiting and then have to repeat your order a couple times. No urgency in the young people anymore. Read more

I think the bagels are fantastic. They are baked fresh daily and end of day leftovers are donated to a local soup kitchen. I volunteered briefly at this soup kitchen and the donations of bagels were more than generous, there was enough for 1/2 dozen bagels for every person that ... came in for lunch (appx 40 people). That's a lot to donate! But besides the community support, the service is sometimes not the best and I have has disagreements with the extra charges they've tried to throw on the bill, but above all, I have enjoyed every meal I have ever had there. I recommend purchasing larger amounts of bagels before noon as they tend to become drier at the end of the day. Read more
