Absolutely amazing enchiladas from La Bamba in Saskatoon. The one is a green tomatillo sauce, and the other is the mole sauce which is made with chocolate and spices. Favorite place for guacamole and chips in the city, the best I would say! Pretty much everything is gluten free and there is a dedicated gluten free fryer for those who are sensitive. That or - the only items touching the fryer are corn based. I called to ask recently ... and people who are sensitive are safe here. There are also options to make dishes vegan. I still am mystified by the popularity of this restaurant among local residents. When we moved here it was one of the restaurants we were recommended most often, so we tried it. We were very underwhelmed. The food was puzzlingly bland and boring. That was over a decade ago. Fast ... forward to a couple weeks ago, a friend wanted to go here for their birthday. Fine, let’s try it again. We felt the same. So bland. Started with the chips and cheese; I don’t care for their homemade tortilla chips. For the main, I had the flautas, which is kind of like a large taquito. It had zero flavour. Same with the beans and rice. Had to search for some hot sauce to give it a kick. Anyways, I don’t get it. The menu is quite limited and there is a lack of variety when you consider the broad array of Mexican dishes. I get that the kitchen is small and therefore limited. There is passion in the food - which is probably the reason I go back now and ... again. Great to see a dine-in option again. Great service! Read more
