The food is okay, but not something that I would openly recommend to anyone. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant suits the area. I ordered the dinner for one #6 (General Tao's chicken with chicken balls). I have to say that it was rather underwhelming. We tried this place because our go-to place was closed. This place offers almost the same exact menu items we like: chicken balls, garlic spare ribs, chicken fried rice, almond guy ding. The almond guy ding had a very odd smell to it and the ribs and rice portions were ... much smaller than our other place. If you're craving American style Chinese food it's ok but I probably won't order from here again unless our go-to place is not available and we want Chinese food from close by. Read more

Decided on getting dinner delivered today from New Town Chinese. I was really impressed with two items that came piping hot and well packaged. I opted for combo #3 and the chicken fried rice, chicken chop suey and general tao chicken were each well flavoured and freshly prepared. The Cantonese ... chow mein was also great - 100% highly recommended with its variety of veggies and meats resting on a thick layer of crunchy thin egg noodles. See pics attached. I have been ordering from New Town for about 4 years now, but the quality never blew my mind. The thing that kept me going back was their breaded sweet and sour shrimp. Most of the time, the shrimp and the batter are good and cooked well. Last night, however, was a ... different story. The batter was thin, the shrimp were not coated properly and inside they were shrunk down and dry with a metallic taste. I called New Town this morning to express my concern and asked if they could please redo just the shrimp and I'd pick it up later. I even offered to bring the shrimp by so the guy on the phone could see for himself. He claimed to have inspected the food before it was packaged and flat out refused 4 times even after I told him I spent over $65 in food. Really bad customer service, in my opinion, especially to a previously loyal customer. I will not be supporting their mediocre food and business anymore and I recommend others do the same. Read more
