Alex’s Falafel & Shwarma - Markham, Ontario

Friendly service but the food was horrible unfortunately. I ordered falafels and a veggie samosa - both were terrible. The samosa was very doughy and tasteless. The falafel was oily, salty and sour- very odd. I'm unsure if the sourness is from an ingredient in it or from ... having gone bad. Great food, and when the woman working there makes it, it's the best. It is not expensive, considering how much it must cost to buy all the vegetables and meat from a businessman's pocket. I've been eating here since it opened and his food comes in at a close 1st next to Johnny's Shawarma in Scarborough. Alex is a great guy and his chicken shawarma is probably the best in Markham/Richmond Hill. My suggestion to first timers to shawarma is leave out the pickles and ... tunip. Read more

The shawarma is bad. The purple pickles ruin the sandwich. They taste very old and spoiled. The chicken after being removed from the spit is re-heated on the grill. It dries it out so much that you can't chew it. The only positive is the fresh cut fries. The price ... is good but the food is terrible. Read more
