The Brass Pub - Kingston, Ontario

We came out for some drinks and dinner, got here, and had to pay a $5 cover charge for a pub, like what… on top of that, not a single table is available; I’m sorry, why am I paying $5 to wander around a pub with no redeeming quality? No, I ... can do that at McDonald's for free. Then we sat down after searching for a table; the server came over at some point, asked some of us for our order and left. She did not come back for at least 25 minutes (to be generous). I had to remind her what the rest of our group ordered for drinks and then asked if the rest of us could order. Time later, we got the pitcher of beer and some of the drinks, but there were no glasss for the beer for another 5ish minutes, and then some of our food came out. Once we got it, the food was delicious, no complaints, and there was lots of flavour. However, we had to wait again for salt, pepper and other condiments, and the chicken tenders came with salsa, not plum sauce. I was disgusted by how long it took for us to get a single drink or any opportunity to order something, especially after paying to get in and not having a table. Please do better; the food and atmosphere were decent; sadly, our experience was reunited in every other way. Side note: the live music was great!! It's been approximately 18 years since I've visited this fine establishment. I lived in close proximity to this venue when I was completing my Masters of Science degree at Queens University. The noise can be quite deafening. However, the DJ always does a phenomenal job of mixing classic rock, with alternative rock, ... hip hop and R&B. As someone who was classically trained in piano from the age of 3, I appreciate this eclectic compilation. My friends also greatly appreciated thr music and the ambience. Hence, we were regulars at this venue. It was always an excellent reprieve from the horrendously frigid temperatures of Kingston. -31 degrees with windchill is very difficult to adjust for 5 months annually. Moreover, the salt laden sidewalks and roads really do erode shoes, jackets, tires and car under-carriages. Some people whine the service is subpar here. However, if you don't tip the staff at least 15% why would anyone serve you in Canada? That's a standard gratuity for all restaurants, bars and taxi, it demonsrtates your APPRECIATION for their efforts. Canada's not a third world country. Read more

This is the worst place I have ever been, there’s half price nachos!! Unfortunately we sat down at 10:15 and she gave us drinks and never showed up at all until we needed our bills and we’re done drinking(nachos end at 11 smh). Unfortunately they were to busy doing time ... theft on their phones and talking at the bar at the front :( guess I’ll starve . Never coming back here so brutal. Read more

Had an absolute time. A very young crowd staff is nice and accepting of my stupidity. Can't ask for anything more. Would suggest if looking for some fun.

Okay setting. Food and drinks are okay too. Don’t have very high expectations of food or drinks here. Music is too loud sometimes. The servers don’t even tell you that they have added their own tip to the bill. Even if it is some kind of norm at least let the ... people know??!!! Read more
