The Gourmet Restaurant - Carleton Place, Ontario

I attended this restaurant yesterday with a group of approximately 20 to 30 people. We had the area in the back reserved. There were a group of us that needed to sit in the front while we waited for patrons to complete their meals so we could join the family ... in the back. The service that we received at the front of the restaurant was deplorable! Our server was rude did not provide what was ordered and seemed really put off that we were sitting in her section. All we had ordered was drinks and we couldn’t wait to be moved due to her ignorance. Unfortunately we were there for a funeral service of someone very close to us. We didn’t require much from her but a little common courtesy would’ve went along way, especially yesterday. Once we were moved to the new section with the rest of our family we had received top-notch service! Our server was incredibly kind. She worked hard to keep this big section fed and happy on her own. And she did an amazing job at it! She was informative and helped with menu options. She was pleasant 100% of the time she was working very hard for our section and it did not show in her pleasant demeanour whatsoever that she may have been feeling overwhelmed. The food I ordered was good and I would order it again. ironically she was able to provide items that the previous waitress had said were unavailable. It was a miracle! It was such a difference, night and day , truly between our service that we were inclined to leave a generous tip.If it hadn’t had been for her, I would be here right now leaving a much lower star review I had never felt so poorly treated in a restaurant as I had in that first 30 minutes of being there. Was looking for May long weekend Sunday 7am breakfast. Found a true Carleton Place local, delicious, fun experience. Fun: got a warmth welcome from the waitress as soon as I crossed the door. Ordered right there and breakfast was almost served before I was sitting. ... As client were walking in, she was welcoming everyone she knew by their name (Winston, etc…). Our family of 6 went out to The Gourmet for dinner tonight. 2 adults, 4 kids. Food was good and our server Rachel was fantastic! Very friendly and kind. This was our first visit to this establishment and will be the last! The chicken dish came out cold and was returned to be reheated. The plate that my food was served on had a huge chip on the rim, not a good impression or hygienic. The waitress was lovely. The coffee ... was good. Maybe we visited at the end of a busy shift, which may explain why the table, floor and menu were dirty. The room was cold. Read more

Delicious Club Sandwhich (ordered with no butter). Crispy fries (asked for well done) Awesome dark, thick gravy! Good prices! Service was good. Food was hot and fresh 👍
