Embarcadero Wine & Oyster Bar - Calgary, Alberta

Really enjoyed our buck-fifty a shuck oysters. The prices here are really reasonable and it's a great casual atmosphere. They were busy and could have used another server or two but our waiter handled the crowd really well!

We caught the last day of the YYC Experience with the Prix Fixe menu here and got to enjoy their oyster offerings as well. They have an extensive wine list, which was great. For the Prix Fixe: The charcuterie board for one was lovely, with a great little portion to enjoy. The ... prosciutto was buttery and the chevre was creamy. The duck confit legs were a very generous portion, but the duck was quite oversalted which took away from the dish. The panacotta dessert was light and fluffy. The oysters are the real star of the show at this place, as most might imagine. We tried various kinds and our favorites were the Sawmill and Irish oysters, with the Lucky Lime following as a close third place. The house hot sauce was impeccable and we found it paired perfectly on the oysters with a dash of red wine mignonette on top. Our white wine was a Ciro Bianco that went very well with our whole meal. Our server was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was comfortable, yet had that slightly haunted feel of an older building in Calgary, which was cool. I know we'll be back to enjoy more oysters and wine. I'd love to see some fresh horseradish tossed on the menu sometime too as an addition to the oyster condiment caddy! Read more

This restaurant is an incredible hidden gem. Stumbled upon it one night looking for something new. Every dish I have tried here has been an epic explosion of simple and complex flavours! Incredible! I have been to many many restaurants in Calgary and this one is my new favourite. ... Staff are welcoming, friendly, helpful and so on point with service. I’m impressed through and through. Compliments to the chef! If you want well thought out dishes, ranging in seafood, meat and vegetarian delights then you HAVE TO come here. Carpaccio is the best in town! We’ve had oysters, gnocchi, lamb, filet mignon, pork belly prawns. My one and only observation which doesn’t compare to the food quality is that the restaurant itself could use some updating but I’m a happy happy customer and really don’t care with THAT quality of food! The Denman oysters were very good and I thought the house hot sauce was the best of the options. The jambalaya was good and the sausage nicely spiced. Portion size may have been a little small. This hidden gem is located close to Stampede grounds on 17th Avenue. Lots street parking, might have to pay depending the day and time you go. The building is a conversion of an older house, but is very nice. I've been to this restaurant twice now. The best ... and must have is their daily oyster social. Select fresh oysters for $1.50 each. The second best in my opinion is the Beef Carpaccio, it's delicious. Their onion ring has a crispy batter and is very good too. We ordered mostly appetizers and just shared a couple entrees between the 5 of us. Because we ordered lots of fresh oysters. Highly recommend this restaurant, the prices is very fair. Read more
