Cottage Canoe - Barrie, Ontario

This restaurant is now our go to for a meal in Barrie. The waitress we had was very efficient. She was the only one working and she ran the place like clock work. Very friendly and very organized. My husband had the steak on a bun ... and the steak was huge and done the way he asked. I had the Canoe club hoping the turkey would be real and it was as advertised. Roast turkey, lots of it, ham and real cheese. I had it with the side salad which was crisp and fresh. With tip the meal was just under $60.00 with a Diet Pepsi. The name and the ambiance go together so well. The food quality and portions are more than sufficient.

Came with a group of friends after a day of awesome and fun paintball over at delta and coming here almost ruined my mood entirely. we came in were seated and had to wait 15-20 minutes to order drinks. After that my friends already wanted to leave, but I told ... them to give it a chance and order meals. Our drinks came and had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes to order our food. I asked for a second beer and the server abruptly said “this is going to have to be your last one”. This was the first time I’ve ever been cut off from alcohol in my life let alone on my second bloody beer!! Just that alone made me want to walk out. Horrible wait times, the service alone should make you want to look elsewhere. They seemed to treat the nice elderly people well though so I guess that’s a plus. 1 star not returning ever again and will not be recommending this place to anyone out there. This is also the first time I’ve ever been so displeased with a place that I actually took the time out of my busy schedule to write this review to warn you not to come here due to the service we received. We recently hosted our daughter’s First Communion dinner at Cottage Canoe and we couldn’t be more happy with the event from start to finish! The owner was easy to communicate with and happy to accommodate our requests in organizing the event. The service team on the day of were super kind ... and provided speedy service. Warm, cozy fuzzy feel to restaurant. You truly feel like you’re in cottage country tbh. Being from BIG city TO it was very comforting/pleasant…. Wife/I had lunch there recently over Thanksgiving weekend & the food/service was great! Kristen (MGR) served us and she was very polite, friendly & professional.
