had lunch here about 5 x's and everytime super tasty and great value for $. The Reuben and salad is great, the daily special is always under $10 incl tax. Today was grilled chicken w pineapple, spicy coleslaw and fries. only downside and they are students is ... the wait can be 15-20 minutes sometimes. and although i've never bought them they carry fresh bread and frozen soup & sauces. the cafeteria is so good and cheap! they also sell baked goods and coffee. i only take a star off because they close very early, like 12:30, their website says they have a later lunch option but when i've been there i don't see anyone in the kitchen so maybe ... they don't anymore? if they were just open a bit later i would be able to go much more often! Jane's Restaurant provides wonderful food experiences in the heart of downtown Winnipeg. Not only does it provide delicious, varied and beautifully presented dishes, but the staff who are all students of Red River College make it a memorable event. They are attentive, cheery and discrete. Prices for ... the succulent soups, entrees, mains and desserts are fair and present great value. The attractive and historical Main room along with comfortable chairs and proper napkins (not to forget real steeped tea) completes this food experience. Well worth it!!! Read more
The prices are really good. The chilli cheese fries were excellent. The Peruvian beef skewers although well presented, were overcooked and very chewy. The sweet potatoes were almost crunchy. So it's hit or miss in terms of food quality. It would be nice to simplify the process for customers ordering, ... paying and then waiting for their food. It's chaotic during busy times and a pain to have to line up three times. It didn't help that the cashier scolded me for not following their confusing ordering system the first time I visited.
