WVRST Union Station - Toronto, Ontario

4.5 stars. Absolutely delicious hotdogs (my favourite in the city!), although on the pricey end sitting at around $14-15 pretax. Sausages are good quality, although it isn’t the largest portion. You’re able to choose two toppings of your choice (ie. sauerkraut, jalapeno, etc). Highly recommend to also try their duck ... fat fries - decently salted with a crispy outside and fluffy inside. I don’t really drink beer so I was asking a lot of questions and the waiter was really nice and also my mom was craving a German sausage lmao I don’t know for how long so I’m glad we finally got that. We got the Oktoberfest hotdog. And some nice ... beer. Music was good too. Read more

I got a veggie burger with fries! It was so good. Usually, it's a hit or miss with veggie options but this veggie burger was so good. It was soft and tender and the flavours were so good. I also loved their buns. I could really tell the bun was ... freshly baked. As for the atmosphere, it's union station, so it gets loud and even louder depending on the time and if there's a game happening. We went around 2pm and we're seated right away. I am a fan of WURST, having been to the King St. West location fairly regularly. So when I was at the Raptor’s game last night, decided to try out the Union Station location. It was not what I had come to expect from the restaurant- delicious and well prepared ... food as well as great service . My friend and I ordered 2 beers, got mine in a wine glass !!! We ordered our food and it was over cooked and lacked flavour. They forget the duck fries, when we did receive them , they were soggy and hastily prepared. Honestly, I am pretty disappointed. I went at 9 PM, maybe it was a bad time. However, if you are waiting for a train or around Union, wanting to grab a quick bite, watch TV and have some beer. This is the spot for just that. The bar area looked cozy ... and nice. But we did not go for a quick bite. The bread was super dry & the duck fat fries tasted like regular fries, with no crisp shell and no umami flavours. The sausages were flavourless. I ordered one CurryWurst and one sandwich. The curry was pretty good, and the Bratwvrst sausage was good too. I recommend this. However, the Boerewors sandwich, on the other hand, was terrible. The best part was that this bread wasn't dry, the cheese tasted good, and the Sauerkraut was delicious. Otherwise, it was dry and tasteless, just a big slab of unseasoned meat with a 5$ piece of cheese on top. I don’t think this is a good place for a nice dinner with friends and family, especially with the washroom that needs you to leave the restaurant because it uses the public union washroom. (which isn’t pleasant, but I understand the convenience ) The service wasn’t excellent either. For the small amount of people in the restaurant, there were 2 people at the bar, yet none hardly ever came to the dining areas. I had to get up and walk to the bar multiple times to get help.
