The service was initially fine. The waitress took our order. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Then we never saw her again. The chicken fingers were cheap store-bought pressed chicken garbage. The steak sandwich was a chunk of tough meat that had to be taken off the bun ... to try to eat it with a knife and fork. There were barely any mushrooms and green peppers and it was dry. She forgot our condiments and never returned so we could get them or a refill on the drink. For $50, I really expected better. Especially when you're ordering pub food in a pub. The backs of the fabric booths were filthy. Read more
This is one of a few restaurants that serves delicious food! I love to have the nachos and quesadillas here, they serve in good portions. The LIT drink wasn’t as good as I thought, so I switched to beer instead. The ambience is great, service is quick and easy.
Ok, shame on me that I have not been to this place earlier. My kids have played a million times at Etobicoke Canlan. And never been in. My mistake. A local watering hole with tons of hockey stuff. A wonderous, great staff. Well priced good ... and a ton of TVs. I live this place. Read more
The gang found itself in the Etobicoke area after working up a sweat for the better part of the day. Needless to say, we were hungry, so we took a chance on the closest place that had food in the area; Schuey's Bar & Grill. Schuey's is a medium sized sports ... bar that dresses the part. There are notable hockey jerseys hung across the ceiling, posters of sports figures everywhere you look, and televisions at every desirable viewing angle. With plenty of booth, bar, and standard seating, if you're looking for somewhere to sit, drink, and watch the game, Schuey's is a solid choice. That being said, we had no interest in sports that night, and our hearts were set on good food. Between myself and a friend, we ordered nachos, poutine, and fish and chips. In order of preference from most preferred to least, I'd say fish and chips, nachos, then poutine. If we're being honest, it's hard to mess up a fish and chips, since you've just got to batter your fish, deep fry it, and serve it up with tartar sauce and fries. Still, mission accomplished. As a self-described nacho connoisseur, I can say that these nachos were middle of the road. They had their upsides and downsides. The chips had a satisfying texture and density, and were toasted, which I welcomed. We ordered our nachos with chili, which I definitely suggest since every chip that I got that had a healthy amount of chili on it was a great bite. Lastly, the various toppings paired well with whatever cheese blend they chose. I got a little annoyed when the plate was served with two shot glass equivalents of salsa and sour cream. We were able to ask for more, but the amount that we were originally served was laughably inadequate to eat the nachos. (We actually laughed.) As for topping coverage, as with all nachos, it was great on top, but surprisingly not horrendous beneath that top layer. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrendous. If I were to simply take the food and rate the experience, I would say that everything was passable. Still, I left Schuey's with a sour taste in my mouth because the service didn't quite cut it. I get the feeling that the bar staff weren't used to serving large groups. We were left with no water for weirdly long periods of time, the waitress gave us a pained and annoyed look when we suggested we were going to split the bill between the two of us, and there wasn't much of an attempt made at cordiality. Again, if I were in the area and wanted to watch the game with drinks, I would consider Schuey's... but even then I'd think twice about it. Head to Schuey's if you'd like. You won't have a bad time, but it probably won't be the best. Read more
Best fine dining experience I’ve ever had. Somebody get this restaurant a Michelin star. Brady is a wonderful host!
