Food was great, I had a loaded potato bites with everything on it for lunch. My server Rosetta was on point, and the food came out super quick.
Terribly slow service and the food isn't that great ever since management changed. Only eat here if you aren't hungry yet, because your food wont come for an hour and a half. And when it does come, the servers are out of sight for another hour or so.
They suddenly decided to close two hours early when I went because "business was slow" but I made it in time. Bought the calamari for $9.99 + tax and was not expecting to receive such a measly amount. Food is so overpriced for the portion size. I think there was ... about 17 pieces and my lemon wedge slice was absent. The coating tasted too much like flour and together with the dip I felt sick afterwards. I've also tried their buffalo chicken wraps. Really good the first time with a generous amount of crunchy buffalo chicken and lettuce inside. However, when I tried them another day, there seemed to be less chicken, no crunch, and inside was somewhat soggy lettuce. The jerk chicken poutine for $11.99 + tax was decent. Nothing to write home about. It was large enough that it could be shared between two people. I'm disappointed in the flavour--they put what looks like spicy mayo (ugh) on the fries which took away from the little jerk flavour that their was. I don't see why they didn't just spread a jerk gravy over the fries. My fries weren't spicy at all. I waited about 20 minutes to have these made so better to call in and order ahead. Read more
The perfect place for gullible, sheltered UTSC students who think defrosted Food Basics chicken wings lathered in BBQ sauce is fine dining. Oh, so now you think you're royalty with all that OSAP money? Well, come on down for Rex's $16 Tuscan Chicken served with "grilled market vegetables". And by "market", ... they mean the leftover vegetables they dug out from the trashbin of the H-wing marketplace Spring Rolls. And their signature New York steak is cooked to perfection. Well, as much as it can be, considering the head chef is as much a chef as your IDS major is of any use in the real world. Bringing your date to our fine venue? Please be seated. Just make sure to pack plenty of snacks while you wait over an hour for your food to arrive. The staff are much too busy jacking off---ahem-- ensuring your food is at least somewhat better than the instant meals you can get from the convenience store (hint: it's not). It should, however, be noted that, at the very least, Rex's Den provides far more employment opportunities for UofT grads than a UofT degree. Read more
In my opinion this place is one of the worst places to eat. They have the worst service. We ordered fish n chips and lasagna and they were both awful. The fries were cold. They said the fish is from this morning but it tasted like the frozen ones. The bread they brought ... with lasagna were cold. It took them about 40 minutes for the food. they mentioned that they're not going have straws anymore. Overall 1 star is more than enough for this place. Read more
