Had a rather large event in their party room (30+ppl). The food was simple and well done and the beer was good. The prices are nothing special but the service is what made this place good.
I'd give it NO stars if possible! Ordered the veggie chili, asked for no cheese and double checked it was made with veggie broth (I'm vegan). I'm halfway through eating it and find GROUND BEEF pieces in it! The waitress took it over to the cook (who was a dirty ... mess sitting at the bar drinking on shift) who reached over my food and felt the beef to confirm what it was. The waitress walked back and gave me back my plate saying, "He made the other tables food at the same time so it must have fallen in, it is veggie chili though". I said, "Well I'm not gonna eat the rest of that, I don't eat meat!" and she just said "Okay" and walked away with it. No apology, no offer of another meal, no offer of making it free since they fed a vegan meat or since I didn't eat half of it! She even charged me for it!!! I will never go to this place again. Talk about a place who doesn't even care about their customers! Read more
Went to Toronto for our Honeymoon, while going to Casa Loma thought to try this restaurant. staff severely under staff. waited a while to get our order, then 10 min later the waiter forgot what we ordered and we had to reorder. However this wasn't the worst part. NEVER before ... have I ever seen a owner of a building treat his staff so horrible. came in swearing and verbally abusing his waiter and didn't even care that me and my wife were trying to enjoy our meal. we felt bad for the waiter and made us extremely uncomfortable. do not go here, and don't support owners that abuse their customers or staff in any form. I walked in on a slow Wednesday afternoon to get a quick beer with a friend. The only server on shift saw me walk in and stand at the bar, but she ignored me for a solid five minutes. She was having a conversation with a group at a table, ... and while she kept turning around to look at me, she never excused herself to seve me. Finally, when she turned around to grab another menu for the table, I politely asked if she could pour me a beer. And this is where she got really rude. She told me to wait, because it's "rude to interrupt a conversation", and when I didn't say anything she muttered that I need to wait for her to get on the other side of the bar. When she was finally at the taps, she lectured me, asking if I've ever worked in the food business (yep, chef and server for four years) and how she's entitled to have a conversation. Then she called me rude, condescending, and inpatient. I was too shocked to say anything else. After she poured my beer, she thumped it on the bar and walked back to the group without a word. While we were sitting on the patio, she bothered us a few times about "buying another beer already". I will never, ever, be going to the Regal Beagle again. And the beer was stale. Read more

The only bar I've ever liked in the city — especially when I was closer to campus — but I prefer quiet places. The owner is intimidating but the bartenders are usually cool people. Not that the service is incredible or that the food is gourmet, but if I want ... to be able to have a conversation over beer, this is the only place I can go to. Read more
