Carters Landing - Toronto, Ontario

A chain restaurant in the middle of a desolate field (at least during winter). The service was mediocre, long periods of time when no one was in sight. Food was good but very obviously an assembly line operation. Restrooms were clean but oddly laid out.

Perfect location, nicely renovated, friendly staff. Foods provided for brunch buffet is quite nice, love the egg Benedict and roasted beef. Must take an outdoor seat although you can't see the lake. Pay attention on drink menu, quotes on it are brilliant.

Food was good for the most part. The burger was superb, no complaints. I got the compressed watermelon appetizer to share with my friends and that was also good (hits all 5 of the basic tastes). The banana split was underwhelming. Came to the table half melted, and was basically ... ice cream soup. Service was borderline ok. At least the food tastes good... I generally look at the value of the meal versus how much is being charged, but the service was different than what I am use to. As I'm writing this we have been in the restaurant for 50 mins. Which I had to find the ... hostess. Once seated. Ordered my food which was delivered incorrectly. As well as the size of my drink, I was given a large instead of a regular (but at least they are compensating by charging me for the smaller size one). My sister and I ordered different burgers and got the same ones. My water has been empty since the first cup. I mean at a value of 20 dollars a plate I wasn't expecting much than getting my order correctly. However with an open mind the food is quite tasty. And it is a convenient location by the water. We chose this fairly new restaurant to celebrate our mom's 57th birthday and to watch the Portugal-France game this past weekend. Honestly, I was very disappointed with how long it took to get waters for our table, not to mention to have our orders taken. We finally got a few ... wing platters, chips n guacamole, and burgers for the table. And watched the game. Our waitress never introduced herself and it was only on the bill that I learnt her name. Brooklyn made no attempt to help us celebrate our mom's special day, even though we informed both our hostesses before being seated. We quickly settled the bill and headed over to a franchised restaurant to have drinks and truly celebrate her birthday candles and all! Carter's Landing opened this month on Canada day. They have a very limited menu and seem to have a few issues yet to be sorted. A lot of effort was clearly put into their design and décor but overall the food was nothing special, the wait staff needs more training, and they need to work on accessibility. The staff continually informed us that the washrooms were on the upper floor while we waited for the two small ones downstairs; due to the fact that our mother could not climb the stairs due to the state of her knees.
