It's always been a reliable and consistent restaurant chain. Several decades of being an occasional regular customer speaks volumes. You don't come here for the decor, fine dining or expansive menu. You come for the good service, pleasant staff and consistently good fish and chips.

Honestly, generous servings but too focused on quantity over quality. Dripping in oil, and the batter was undercooked. Fries weren’t crisp either. C-Lovers gotta step it up.

A return visit after 20 years...? Yup... back then well, it was a meh visit hosted by a less than welcoming staff at their former Newton location. This visit was a completely different monster than the previous visit ( see foodieatlarge.yelp.ca ). This visit was absolutely the best fish & chips I ... have had the pleasure of noshing. Superb meaty fish with the perfect crispy non greasy batter. The fries were fresh-cut. Service was outstanding. This C-Lovers shop has around 8 tables and 7 booths. Thus, it fills up quickly so u can expect a brief w8 during weekends and prime dinner hours. The 1 piece cod and chip meal is ample and for me especially @$15.99, it's a gr8 deal as I also order the 4 Shrimp side for $4, it's the same price as the "all you can eat" meal and u can also augment your 1 PC meal with Onion Rings if u like instead of shrimp! Great staff, we went today to have dinner it was busy but the servers were very attentive. The food was great too! We would definitely be coming back. We got the all you can eat fish and chips with bottomless pop. Satisfied our craving!!!

It was really busy and we needed to wait a fair bit for a table, but I expected that on Good Friday. The staff were friendly and courteous and were doing their best for a quick turnaround to get everyone in the door. The fish & chips are beyond ... compare - lovely crispy batter without the heavy greasiness you often see. I didn't love the fried oysters, but that's just a personal taste thing. Highly recommended but I will consider take-out next time as everyone seems to crave fish & chips at the same time as me. 🙂 Read more
