White Spot - Surrey, British Columbia

We made a decision today that we are officially done eating at white spot restaurants as their standard has gone down so much and their prices have gone up so much so makes sense why they closing so many. We still enjoy their classic Benedict breakfast now that the shredded ... hash browns are back. But we had chicken wrap today and sent it back. Presentation was awful compared to the cactus club lettuce wrap. Leagues apart and the chicken was gross and discoloured so we sent it back and got the steelhead burger as they don’t have the salmon burger any more. The fries were not fresh and meal was surely below any standard. Closed chapter for us. Have not had a good meal at white spot for a long time. Only breakfast hanging them in there. Too bad. On March 26, 2024, my wife and I had a wonderful lunch at White Spot Guildford. Our server was Kelsy who provide excellent service to us throughout our lunch. Kelsy asked us where we wished to seat. She found us a great table. The Table was very clean and very ... well set-up. My wife and I both ordered the Legendary Platter. The Hamburger was very nicely cooked and the French Fries were of really good quality. White Spot Coffee was excellent too! We really enjoyed our lunch at the White Spot Guildford. Off White… Sometimes we just eat wherever is convenient and this Spot was the convenience of the day, it’s located outside of Guildford mall along 152nd street with its parking lot at the back. Not going to lie, these are one of those restaurants we grew up with when we were young ... and occasionally we still go back to them for whatever reason. Upon arrival, had to wait 10mins before someone miraculously came to show some existence of life in this place. Inside was pretty clean and could sense a silent atmosphere. Here were the food I ordered; 1. Chicken noodle soup. The soup was lukewarm, when soup served lukewarm its an automatic failed to me most of the time. 2. Coconut prawns. Pretty decently done, light little crisp with a nice light crunch to the prawns. 3. Steelhead florentine bowl. It was okay, the tomatoes and rose sauce was a bit too overpowering the fish. 4. New York steak. On the menu there’s a section next to the main course read, “RED SEAL CHEFS - Our red seal chefs spend roughly 5,000 hours (that’s 3 years, if you are counting) apprenticing and perfecting their craft in our kitchens. That’s a lot of New York steaks!” Okay with that being said, how come my medium rare steak came out medium well?? My neighbour’s friend’s uncle in a remote village of Timbuktu can probably cook a good steak with 5 hours of training. I can’t imagine how many steaks being wasted in that 5000 hours and still counting… cooking 101 failed! Overall, the service was pretty basic but could be better if my server was around half the time. It was almost like dining at a ghost town with the food being subpar or failed. Yes I know I hear it all the time from people saying, I shouldn’t expect much from dining at places like this but first of all it’s not free, the prices are not cheap nowadays, and it does take up 1-2 hours of my time. White spot what happened? I moved out of BC 6 years ago so it's one of my favorite places to eat when I visit but man was this disappointing. Is it just me or does nothing taste the same anymore? The quality of ingredients has definitely gone down. I got a ... BC Burger and it was all mayo no red relish. My fries were overcooked and my husband's onion rings were undercooked. Is there a shortage of cabbage that I don't know about because I used to get a heaping scoop of coleslaw and today's serving was like the chef didn't want to share. The Caesar salad was watery like usual so at least that's the same. We were also served to terrible tasting flat cokes. My gravy also came in a plastic container, y'all not doing bowls anymore either? We left most of the food on our plates. Read more

Food is great, service is awesome!! Location and ambience very good. I don't have any words to describe, it's a must visit and if you have been there once, pretty sure this will be added to your frequent visit eateries. I don't like chain restaurants, especially the fast ... food ones. Hence I avoided this place thinking a fast food joint, but that's not true. The chicken brocolli and cheese (with jasmine rice) is awesome. They have great salads too. Kids menu is interesting. Oh boy, am I smitten!! 😀 Read more
