Restaurant Continental - Quebec City, Quebec

The pictures I am sharing, are of my very first visit with my wife from February 17, 2024. My wife and I were beyond impressed with the phenomenal service we received. The evening had commenced with me forgetting to bring my reading glasses with me, making it difficult for me ... to read the menu. That is until our server brought me an assortment of extra reading glasses to remedy this self inflicted and embarrassing dilemma. From that moment on, the entire dining experiences was nothing short of fabulous. My wife's exact words were, "I will never eat another Caesar's salad as good as this". After that evening, my and I unanimously decided we needed to return for a repeat visit..... which was yesterday, June 29, 2024. And just like our first visit, yesterday's visit did not disappoint!!! Fantastic experience. All of the staff were incredibly welcoming and very professional. Lovely atmosphere too. The food and table side service were sensational. We had the Caesar salad, prepared freshly at the table, flambéed steaks and crêpes suzette. Not only was the food itself amazing, but so too was the ... flaming spectacle. Pretty much everyone who visits Québec City raves about Le Continental and insists on paying a visit. So we did, and it was good food, theatrics and lot of money. The service was excellent, and we were taken care of. The staff are attentive and well presented as you would ... expect. Cocktails are nice to start off. Our starters arrived looking good. My Escargot not only looked good but tasted great as it was handled well by the chef. The classic Minestrone soup got a thumbs up from my partner. We had to go for the famous Caesar Salad, which was freshly prepared right in front of you, and it tasted divine. And then came the main course with the drama, which makes it interesting. My steak was nicely handled, and the only quib I had was the consistency of the sauce, which was too runny. My partner's fillet mignon also got a thumbs up. The sides and bread with butter were good. Finally, the Crepe Suzette was also prepared in front of us, fresh and delicate and lovely. The atmosphere was nice but a little dark for me with lightning. Most expensive and worst experience ever! Never paid for such horrible experience. The moment we sit down they push the flammable table to us and we didn’t even start to see the menu. Serving that time they can just anyhow hit on the plates for several times. Either they have to ... send them back for training or they do it in purpose to make us uncomfortable. Who will keep on asked us about what to order in less than 5 mins. Food was super salty. Seriously scallop doesn’t need a lot of seasoning. Foie gras was not good too omg. Epic experience! It was everything I wanted and more! I've always wanted to experience witnessing my food flambéd in front of me and it was not only a wonderful show but everything tasted delicious! The service was amazing 👏 🙌 They did mention that there was an Era from the ... 20s-40s all the restaurants did this but now this is the last one in the area to practice this dying art. So it was almost a little bit like time traveling. I love the uniform of the staff too. Our server Michele was the best and made the the whole experience even more memorable. He even surprised my daughter with a handmade rose 🌹 I've been telling all my friends this was our favorite part about our visit to Quebec city.
