Le Restaurant Apsara - Quebec City, Quebec

Based on a visit Aug 2023 We went to Apsara with high expectations. The menu looked appetizing the venue really good. The restaurant is well decorated and the wait staff dressed in costumes reflective of their cuisines. My wife & I love Thai cuisine. Reading the back story ... of how the restaurant came about we were that much more looking forward to it. Our food was delivered quickly. My wife's shrimp salad was delicious. My Tom Yum soup was tasty though I prefer it to be hotter (temperature). It was only lukewarm. My meal of Pad Thai was disappointing. So much so I even thought if they had got my order wrong. Nice Southeast Asian Fusion restaurant in Quebec. The owner is Cambodian, but we still respect the food their made. The restaurant is not the tourist area, and we were apricated about finding Asian food to eat even it wasn't exactly what we were expected. Service was great, the vibe in the place ... was good. We waited in the city so we could dine here at 5pm, when the restaurant opened. A little bit prior, our family group went in to request a table. The hostess asked us if we had reservations. As we said ‘no’, the chef/owner came out of the kitchen when he ... heard my daughter in law speaking Khmer. They were like long lost family as they spoke. The wonderful owner made room for us and our meals were amazing, especially the Tom yum soup and beef dishes. My grandson gobbled his meal up! Family owned restaurant and bouquet hotel in old Quebec. Asian food from Thailand Cambodia Vietnamese. Vegan vegetarian options available. Good taste and great service. Tom yum soup was warm and flavourful. For desserts we tried the chef’s special as it had most of the items on the menu, it was very interesting and tasty. Loved the ... fried banana and the vegan gelato. The portions were very small and for the price I felt it was expensive, yet the food was delicious. But I guess in the touristy old Quebec City one must pay for the place. Being vegan this was one of the few places in the area. Loved the decor as it reminded me of Bangkok. Loved the huge apsaras and authentic art decor. This establishment is open since 1977 and family owned. Read more

What a wonderful experience. I believe it was the owner helping me. She took safety seriously: both vaccines and allergies(gluten free, dairy free and more). She made delicious recommendations with only a minor substitute needed. Restaurants never have safe dessert options for me, but she was able to put together a 3 ... piece chef's special dessert. To say she went above and beyond is an understatement. I choose this restaurant before arriving in town and I absolutely made the right choice. Read more
