Cafe Saigon - Montreal, Quebec

As other commenter mentioned, I feel bit bad for posting a low rating but the food was truly underwhelming and not too fresh. The carrots used in my dish were objectively past their expiration date… Also the dishes are underwhelming, especially compared to what Vietnamese restaurants offer in Montreal ... nowadays. The room also smells a bit off (probably due to seats made of fabric and humans sitting on them for years), but you get used to it after 20 minutes or so. The staff was VERY friendly though. Absolutely amazing place! I've been eating at Cafe Saigon since i was a baby and it has never disappointed. The owners and the staff are so friendly and kind and the food has never let me down. It is so rare nowadays to find a place that offers great meals ... and generous portions at such an affordable price! I highly recommend the soupe tonkinoise or the soupe satay. Go Flyers!! This place is honestly disappointing. I ordered the peanut stir fry and it turned out to be slightly watered down plain peanut butter poured over pre-boiled shrimps and vegetables. In my picture I have already picked up a shrimp and saw that the shrimp below it didn't have any sauce ... on it at all - which would not happen if everything was cooked together. The server was super nice. Satay soup wasexcellent. Calamari dish + 2 chicken skewers dish were terrible, way way too salty. To give you an idea, i drank 2 bottles of water.
