Japon Sushi Bar - Montreal, Quebec

Used to be amazing but went downhill a bit before and even after the fine. Service was always a bit slow, even when you come with a kid. Bad idea! They just need an episode of Bar Rescue to get back on track.

The good thing about the restaurant is the decor. It feels very chic and upscale. However that's the end of the good for this restaurant. The sushi was okay but was overpriced for what it is. As others have said, they have also been fined by the city. The fine says: "Le ... lieu ou le véhicule doit être exempt de contaminants, de polluants, de toute espèce d'animaux y compris les insectes et les rongeurs ou de leurs excréments." Infraction date of Nov 20, 2014, judgement date of Jan 7, 2016. Fine of $1750. Because of all of this, and especially the fine, I would not be going back again. This is a take-out place foremost. Probably the best takeout sushi in the area. In the restaurant, however, on a typical Friday night at 7pm the service is slow because the whole kitchen is busy pumping out the takouts, so the sitting customers need to be patient. On lunch time, ... it's easier but pricey. Having said that, their take-out sushi are number one, but strangely, for the dining-in experience, we find that Maiko sushi on Des Sources tastes much better. Read more

Was waiting for so long to try it and then... lunchtime but yet waited for 45 minutes to get served! Half our table was eating before us, not timing the service altogether. The culinary experience felt bland, all maki bites tasted the same to me and I had the Deluxe ... lunch... supposedly... 30$ for that, I try to protest by not tiping and the waitress gives me attitude like "The tip is not included on the bill sir!" I throw her 3 bucks and leave, TOTALLY DISAPOINTED! My way of protesting is to never go there again and try to let people know about my bad experience so as to influence a lot not to go also. I went with some friends to eat in sushi Japon a few days ago but we were so deceived by the service quality and the bad behavior of the owner. We weren't pleased with the shape and the taste of some sushi so we mentionned it to our server. ... He kept saying ok but did nothing to change the food specially when we find a couples of pieces of oignon in a sushi that musn't contain it. We asked to see his boss so the owner came and said if you're not pleased than change the restaurant. It's a real shame and it isn't a way to treat custmers. I guess that all the stuff of this restaurant have to learn good manners before working in service industry. Read more
