Amazing quality and price. Very busy, but that's because it's so good. Service is great, atmosphere is nice, almost fancy, and food is plentiful for a small price. Half a chicken, fries, and a salad for 22$. You really get the cake and eat it too. Plus their tipping options still ... include 10%-15%-20%, which is nice to see in 2024. Felt special returning to this place! Family used to have the their pharmacy for a few decades before selling! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great! Small but an intimate setting! Can't wait for my next visit! Again very emotional retuning here after so many years !!

We ordered the mixed meat plater for two, which had a good portion. I liked the chicken but the pork and the sausage were a bit too salty for my taste. The atmosphere is good but the restaurant is small so I don't think it will be easy to come ... with very young kids. Read more

I enjoy trying new restaurants. Portuguese food is one of my favorites, so, on a Thursday night we decided to eat out. It's difficult to find new places to eat that are good. Taking peoples advice can be tricky. But take this reviewers advice. You have to try this place. I ... was a traditionalist on this try. Chicken is the Portuguese standard. So that's what I did. Started with a small house salad. It was super fresh and tasty. Then I ordered the 1/2 chicken with fries. I was impressed. The chicken was perfectly cooked, so it remained juicy on the inside while crispy on the outside. Galo provides a piri piri sauce on the side so you can control your spice level. The fries were the same. Light and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Accompanied by a spicy mayo. My husband had the meat mixed grill with a stuffed tomato on the side instead of the fries. He said the best part was the tomato, well worth the extra charge. He totally enjoyed the mixed grill but found it a bit pricey. One glass of wine was ordered without looking at a wine list; big mistake. So beware. Ask about the price before ordering. We got a 5oz glass for $14. The wine was good but not that good. The nata was small but very tasty. Not overly sweet, warm with a crispy, flaky crust. Great way to complete an enjoyable meal. Absolutely incredible Portuguese restaurant in the town of Mount Royal! This was my second time at Galo but was even more so impressed. My girlfriend & I went for dinner and we grabbed the half chicken...comes with fresh salad & fries. We also had the grilled calamari & fried cod ... sticks....Delicious!! Amazing service (waiter even offered us complementary fries & salad for a short wait we had) and great prices! Highly recommended!! Read more
