Cute place for a great bagel! We tried the Onion and All Dressed bagels, you could really taste the herbs on the all dressed bagel! Price is reasonable as well, about $1.40 per bagel. Would absolutely get again.
Alright no bagel expert here so I will give them a 5 stars based on them being the first bagel shop (1919) in Montreal. Came to this very smallish original store on Fairmount Ave, the most popular sesame bagel is 1.25CAD. WARM, smaller compared to US bagels, slight sweetness. ... Not bad. Then I went on to the other Montreal biggie St Viateur which personally I think it's better. BTW my hotel also serves Fairmount (6 in a plastic bag) which needed to be toasted to taste good. Crunchy, soft and SUPER FRESH, right from the oven bagels!!!! So good and you can't compare it with anything else, so unique in all the aspects. A MUST GO!!!! Staff was also very friendly to be. They are opened 24 hours. I had one sesame bagel and the other one was the ... blueberry. Both are on the sweeter side, they are not extremely big so you can definitely try more than one flavor. The price for the quality is out of this world. It's worth the walk or the ride!!! Read more
I stopped in as my travel companion wanted to bring bagels home from our visit to Montreal. It was busy on a beautiful Sunday morning, and there was a small lineup going up the ramp to the front door. A five (or so) minute wait later, we got to the front ... of the line to place our orders. I chose a dozen all-dressed (everything) and a dozen garlic. They were quickly bagged up and we were on our way. The garlic is very strong (their description says pungent, and they're not wrong) on the garlic bagels and it will linger with you for hours. If you love garlic, these are for you. Personally, next time I would go with the onion bagels instead. I love sesame, my family does not like the overwhelming amount of sesame seeds on the sesame bagels. Onion would be my compromise as there's a mixture of onion and sesame. The all-dressed bagels are well balanced, having a mix of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, caraway seeds, onion, garlic and a bit of salt. The best of, ahem, everything.... These were a home run in my house. The bagels have a dense texture and a satisfying chew to them, they're unique to the area and definitely worth a try, especially if you've only ever experienced more 'bready', bun-like bagels available across the country. I popped into this bagel shop to see what they had, and I ended up trying a bunch of different bagels. The blueberry and cranberry ones were my favorites—they were super fresh and delicious. The shop is tiny, so only a few people can line up inside at a time. ... The cashiers were really helpful and patient. Prices are fair, but finding parking around here is a bit of a challenge. The bagels were so good that I almost ate them all on my way home! Read more
