Socialito - Montreal, Quebec

We had a strange evening at Socialito. Although we had a reservation, we were told as soon as we arrived that we could not drag for too long because a group of 20 would arrive an hour after our arrival. After that event, the service consistently rushed us to make ... our choice for the next course. In term of food and beverages, our experience wasvery irregular. The cocktails were so so (too much ice, they were diluted). The wine selection is poor.The calamari appetizer were nice. The entree of tuna was good, although not very Mexican flavoured. Strong delicious margs and the al pastor tacos are amazing!! The staff was sweet - they even made a Michelada that wasn't on the menu for my friend's bday. I see some bad reviews and I can't understand why - they must have really stepped it up!

Went here for lunch for a friend's birthday. Food was great, loved the Japanese eggplant taco and the salsa that was out on the table. Service was very friendly. One of the servers made my friend a particular drink especially for her birthday, even though they don't normally serve ... it at lunchtime. Read more

Fresh ingredients, great decor, lacks a unique flavour signature-"safe" food- The eggplant tacos was screaming for wasabi or chile-Great average fare unimaginative creations.

While the decor us wonderful and menu seems enthralling, unfortunately when we went (albeit during the first week of being open, so some shakiness is to be expected) we were not impressed. After our order was brought out a third time and still not what we asked for, we decided to ... just go for it as many things seemed to be no longer available that evening. The meat was all super fatty, and neither as interesting nor flavourful as we were hoping. Disappointed overall, but hopefully things that can be fixed in the future. Read more
