Very cozy authentic restaurant. Staff speaks real Italian and are very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is warm and romantic. The food is freshly made and not overly generous. My favorite dish is the sun dried tomato spagetti, but the soups are good too. Dinner for 2 might cost ... you 60$ before dessert and drinks, but it's worth it. Read more

La Pizzella is very traditional Italian restaurant in both style and decor. Definitely an old school Italian ambience. We were seated without reservation on a busy Friday night with no problem. Wine by the glass was poured at the table which was a nice touch. Freshly baked tomato pizza bread was brought ... for us to nibble on whilst our main courses cooked. Pasta dishes were good sized portions and tasty. For dessert we had tiramisu & creme caramel, both nice but expensive for what they are. What stopped me giving it 5 star was what I perceived to be a little bit of rudeness from the waiter & owner when we paid. I paid using an international credit card & from experience when they bring the check & card receipt back to you for you to sign & fill in the tip it doesn't always work. Often the tip I write in never gets taken so I have started paying with card & tipping in cash. However this waiter never gave me a chance, as soon as he saw I hadn't written an amount for the tip, he very snidely said service isn't included you know & stared at me. I coolly replied I'm aware of this and he stomped off. I left 20% in the wallet in cash, poking out of the top of the wallet. As we got up to leave the owner kind of rudely crowded us, that was until he saw the tip & then he was sweetness and light. Not quite sure how I feel about this, I had the best of intentions to ensure he got a tip as I know my credit card doesn't always work but for them to be passively aggressive about it until they saw money was rude. However food was good, service was good until this point & we recommended it to 4 friends that night who also enjoyed it! Read more

Below average Italian restaurant, I'm trying to find something good that I would have appreciated about this restaurant. I don't recommend coming to this restaurant if you're looking to have a tasty Italian meal. It seems like the ingredients of the food were frozen. The pasta are not fresh.

We are two ladies who came in for dinner one eve. Our waiter (and I assume also the owner) made an incredibly memorable experience for our last night in Montreal. He was so kind, funny and generous.
