Toujours Mikes - Montreal, Quebec

We went there with my wife's sister and her husband and I decided to have the Lasagna. It was ok, nothing special really. I should have gotten a Pizza I think. The service was excellent and our waitress was great. My friends are from out of town, he is a ... New Zealander and she lives in Toronto so as you would expect, their French is nil. I had to translate the menu because they had no English menu's. I thought that was odd, most places at least have English under the French description on their menus albeit small and tooo difficult to read for these old eyes but it's there. Nop, nothing in English, I guess Mikes does not want English patrons? I don't expect much from Mikes other than the Pizza and this was by no means terrible, it was just alright though and again, while I don't expect much, I do expect better than just "alright". Updated post. I gave 2 stars a few years back because the waitress was unpleasant to me and my kid at the time. But i have kept coming to this place since it is close to my place and i haven't seen that waitress again, and we have also received ... acceptable service all those other times. Montreal has some of the best restaurants in the world. Yesterday while trying to navigate the construction craziness I need to stop for some comfy food. I have been visiting Mike's since about 1974. Fast friendly service combined with the same great food I grew up with transcended me back ... to youth. I was so happy to enjoy the nice surroundings, great food and friendly ambiance. Thank you! Service is great, but the food is fairly average. I only went because my co-workers wanted to. This is not a problem of this location, it's Mike's in general. Their food is average and personally I find it over priced for such mediocre food. ... It is consistent however, regardless of the location you choose you should have a similar level of food and service so if you enjoy their food by all means, but if you have a bit of a better pallet, don't waste your money or time here. Nice little spot not far from the metro, good italian food not like la Madonna qould make at home but pretty close lol. Seriously though good service the food was served really fast.
