Pasta Casareccia - Montreal, Quebec

Great food, great service, atmosphere is a retro vibe which you know the food here has to be bussin. I heard the squid ink pasta is also great here so I will come back to give it a try!

our family enjoyed PC overall. we had arancini appy & were expecting the big beautiful balls from the counter but instead got two ovals a fraction of the size. but v tasty. we had the garlic bread pizzaioli also yummy but not v garlicky at all. i enjoyed my pesto & ... burrata but no salt on table & couldve used it. my son’s casareccia was delish, & other two had chicken parm which disappeared in minutes. prices are significantly higher than what website lists tho & we didnt have the basic offerings menu with lower prices on our table & only saw it after. tartufos were large & delicious for dessert, as were the mousse offerings both in 🍫 & 🍋. but then for $10 we ordered two cannolis, and were disappointed to get two mini cannolis with room temperature cream. we were expecting full size, as theres no mention of mini on menu, and at that price…and that cream should be cold!waitress was very thorough & refilled water repeatedly & we had a good time regardless of imperfect experience. wouldnt rush to go back. So this place has been there for years and I have been a long time patron to be clear, so why 4 star instead of 5 on the food and 3 stars on atmosphere? I have tried numerous dishes here including the chicken parmigiana and well, some dishes just did not ... meet a great level of satisfaction to say the least. However, they also have some wonderful dishes such as one of the best Lasagna Bolognese, bruschetta, gnocchi with airboats sauce, spaghetti and meat or marinara sauce, Cannelloni with ricotta and spinach, Stracciatella soup, Polpette (but they are too expensive and quite small), vinaigrette salade and they also have fantastic fresh bread in the table too. Now, I may be fussy due to my culinary background so take this with a grain of salt in that you may like the dishes I didn’t. But one this is sure, most restaurants don’t have every dish a rockstar hence 4 stars. Interior is average and likely not a first date as it does not impress, but it’s clean and lovely all the same and I enjoy the atmosphere for a quick family or early meal. Service is always good! Lovely place! We enjoyed our food. The selection is great. We took some food to go as well. Our family loves this italian restaurant.

Didn’t feel like cooking so went walking on Sherbrooke and decided to try Pasta Casareccia as I’ve always seen a lot of people walking in and out. Nice staff but a bit underwhelmed by the food. While it was good I feel like there is somewhat a lack in presentation and ... refinement for the price (20+ for one dish). As seen in the pictures: sauce is thrown on without care and the bread is cheap for a paid dish. I also did not like that we tried to buy two cannolis to go at the end but we’re told it’s better to go to the counter if it’s to go because the prices are different which rubbed me the wrong way because I dislike when prices are not uniform across takeout and sit down. I would still consider going back as the service was quick and the food enjoyable especially the freshness of the pasta! Read more
