Very friendly staff, specially the hostess on Saturday night. Great atmosphere and the food is pretty good. Try the table d'hote.. It's fairly inexpensive but the choices are good and the portions are quite large.

What was suppose to be a nice outing to the restaurant with my husband turned into a complete disappointment. We both ordered a "surf n turf" and they served us a steak thinking that we would not noticed . How can someone not notice the difference...so insulted. The only reply ... by the waiter was " I'm sorry " but nothing was done to make it better or to adjust the price . It USED to be a great restaurant....very disappointed and INSULTED. Read more

My first date with my wife, 33 years ago, was here. They, like our couple, have withstood the test of time! So they too must be doing something right... They are unpretentious and competent. They can put up groups on the second floor if so desired. The service has never been ... anything less than attentive. The food has always been wholesome. Their lentil soup is hard to beat. Even though their prices have legitimately gone up over the years, it is a place that we always enjoy returning to when we want to get cozy and comfortable. Read more

I went there on the weekend with my wife. The overall experience was disappointing. First, they say on gmaps that parking is free on hockey nights. This leads people to believe they actually have a parking, which is clearly not the case. You need to park on the street and ... while it's true that it's free past a certain hour, it's impossible to find a spot... The food was very good, the place was packed (and also very noisy). It's great that we can bring our own wine. Service is also very good. I had lamb and my wife had mussels. We both enjoyed.... and felt very sick on the next day. I guess we were just unlucky, considering this place is always full, but that's how it went for us. Read more

I am an American who stays with her Fiance every year from May-Nov. in Ottawa. We took a 2 hour trip to Montreal for a concert Sept. 28 2015. While walking down Duluth St. and checking out various restaurants by observing the decor and reading menus we finally decided to ... try Alexandre. We were greeted by the owner and one of his friends visiting and they made us feel very welcome from the minute we stepped in. Our waitress Cassandra was also very warm and friendly. It was so nice we could bring our own wine which is unheard of in Florida where I am from. We felt so relaxed and it made the atmosphere even better with all the glass sliding doors that surrounded the restaurant. My fiance ordered the Filet Mignon & I ordered the Walleyed fish...I was shocked how much food we got for the money. 1st a delicious soup, followed by a house salad with delicious rolls. When the main course came the plate was filled with delicious sides...tasty rice, roasted potatoes and yummy thinly sliced veggies of parsnips, zucchini & carrots. I have to say it was by far the most delicious gourmet meal I have ever eaten and to top it all off they also served a choice of wonderful desserts with coffee or tea. I was so impressed and enjoyed my experience there so much I told the owner Peter we will be back with my sister next summer...I give Alexandre a 5 star for ambiance & food. Read more
