Thali - Montreal, Quebec

We had bought a Groupon coupon and visited this restaurant. To begin with the service was extremely slow. There ws just one person managing all tables and he took nearly 30 minutes to get just a starter. We were promised 3 different starters but got only 1 samosa ... and 2 onion bhaji. They too were cold. Chutney was written on menu with starter but the waiter got it only when v asked for it. The main course took ages, like 45 minutes to come after v finished the starters. In malai kofta he put onion bhajjis. Can u beat that. Pathetic. And worst part was v were given half a Gulab jamun each for dessert. And in spite of all this the waiter was so demanding for tip. Not recommended at all. There are many much more better and not so pricey and cleaner Indian restaurants in Montreal. This restaurant is a botch on the name of Indian restaurants. Read more

We tried this restaurant through Groupon and the deal indicates that it is a 50 + dollar value for 2 which is obviously bogus. I calculated the minuscule appetizers, main dish and dessert and it came out to roughly 25-30 dollars for 2, which is the initial price of the ... Groupon. You're not getting a deal. Waiter stood around awkwardly and forced us to leave a tip (practically holding onto the debit machine) which we would have anyways but was strange. The food was fine, but there are much better Indian restaurants for cheaper around Montreal. When you click on the Trip Advisor reviews on Groupon it takes you to a different Thali restaurant which is way better in my opinion. They played the same 2-minute song on a loop for an hour, which was fun.... Do not recommend. Read more

Horrible service and attitude from a mediocre restaurant. Tried it a couple of times, since I had a coupon through Living Social. The first time, the server was rude and told us that it only applies to eat-in, no take-out . This was never mentioned anywhere on the coupon, and ... they really seemed to be making it up as they went along. After a thoroughly mediocre meal, we still had a remaining coupon, so we went back. The promotional value of these coupons had expired. Nevertheless, as indicated clearly on the coupons, the value equivalent to the price paid for the coupons never expires... but our server told us that the owner would not honor them. Awesome little restaurant, food was great, family owned. BYOB, good meal for two costs about 30, great price. They also do take away.

Went there because it was on Groupon so it was definitely a great value. Food was ridiculously good, service was excellent (the waiter was even nice enough to go into details about the dishes, explaining where they were from, how they were made, etc.). All in all, great experience and would ... most definitely recommend! BYOB on top of it!!! Read more
