We had a memorable meal at XO Le Restaurant when we visited Montreal. The decor and service were top notch, which was to be expected for the range of pricing though ambiance was a bit too formal for our liking. My plate of foie gras was well plated, but what stole ... the show was the sea bass which was pan seared to perfection. James Le Restaurant is the best restaurant that exists in Montreal at a reasonable price. They are attentive and efficient. They provide the best service and they have a gorgeously decorated establishment. They offer rarities like gold flaked desserts and perfectly cooked filet mignon to your taste. It’s the only ... place I want to go for my birthday. It’s the only restaurant that deserves special occasions in my opinion. Dinner here was SO fantastic! Very uniquely prepared entrees. Excellent service as well. Truly a feast for the senses. It’s a less known gem. We highly recommend it.

*Date visited: 8th July 2018 *Reason for a visit: we celebrated our engagement 3 years ago and this time we had a birthday celebration *Ambiance: simply beautiful! Gorgeous high ceilings and incredible decor modern baroque style, red colour in furniture. Definitely rich and attractive place to be at and have a great ... meal over a nice conversation in a circle of close people. SO PEACEFUL!!! We stayed almost 3 hours and didn’t notice how the time passed by! *Food & beverage: simply excellent!!! Main course: duck breast, lamb chops, scallop risotto and vegetarian pappardelle were very much to our liking. Starters made us very happy as well: we had shrimp salad and oysters (oh those were good!). Ask for wine pairings unless you know exactly what you would like to have :-) Desserts were also amazing: ice cream sandwich, cream brûlée, Irish coffee and coconut cake, as a surprise for a birthday were all so good! Nice limoncello, a compliment from the restaurant Manager, Massimo, crated a beautiful finish to an unforgettable evening! Service: TOP! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner. We didn't do the art history tasting menu, and instead just chose our own appetizer, entrees and dessert. See pictures for what we got! The food was very tasty, however, it seems the cut of wagyu steak my boyfriend got had ... some tendons and so it wasn't the best experience. The pork belly appetizer was amazing though. I hope to eat that dish again sometime. The creme brulee was very good as well, but the serving size is huge! I wasn't able to finish it. Service was excellent. The staff was attentive and some of the best service I've had at a restaurant. Read more
