Had a soft serve vanilla ice cream that taste more like a hard ice cream that been melting for 2 hour than real soft ice cream. The staff clearly have to re check their twirling technic cause it was a total fail. We enjoyed two delightful evening at Le Poisson Rouge during our four night stay in Montreal. The staff was so warm and friendly during our first visit that we had to return for our final night! They made our two year old daughter feel right at home with an ice ... cream appetizer and crayons to keep her busy while my wife and I enjoyed a sumptuous feast. The Panfried StingRay, Escargot & Salmon we're prepared brilliantly and the Pinot Noir was top shelf. The restaurant is only a 60 second walk from laFontaine park, so we could enjoy a nice stroll afterwards. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality! Read more

This is a Table D'hote, complete menu. For Entree, we had scallop ceviche, escargot a la fleur d'ail & vin blanc, calamari grits, mayonnaise de piment d'espelette, soup - excellent! Main course, we chose carre d'agneau aux fines herbs, tataku de thon saku, sting ray pan fried and chaudree de Poison ... Rouge. All dishes were delicious that we could have a second serving of we were not too full. Vanilla ice for dessert. I thought it would heavy but it was light, fruity and marvelous. Daniel was pleasant and accommodating. Janine (?) was a great chef. Thank you. Le Poison Rouge: highly recommended. My wife and I live in Vermont. We try to visit Montreal on a regular basis. We first discovered Poisson Rouge a number of years ago when we were staying at an inn nearby. We have being going to Poisson Rouge each time we visit Montreal. It is a wonderful restaurant - ... small, cozy, great food, great atmosphere and service with a wonderful chef/owner who really has the personal touch. Last time there she remembered it was my wife's birthday and brought out dessert to celebrate. Such a nice touch which defines the restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit. The red tuna was perfectly cooked! The pea soup was amazing! The chef visited our table and she was very nice! A great meal with good service at a fair price.
