Café Pi - Montreal, Quebec

Used to be one of the last community cafes in the neighbourhood. Was recently repainted and bought my new owners. Walls are littered with infantilizing instructions (don't stick gum under the table, obligatory consumption for specific amounts of time, ...) Good place to play play chess. The tables, chess and clocks are free. Just buy a coffee, snack or something else. Espresso is good. Nice people.

The staff is very welcoming and the ambience is quite relaxing with appropriate music. This place is great for those interested in chess looking for a place to play a game with friends while having a nice atmosphere around.

Love the idea of the place. Love playing chess there. But I've been coming and it has been holding a very strong bad smell when you walk in. Also very cold at the front of the store. But other then that had a wonderful time.

Stumbled upon this place by mistake today. Had a good americano and beat my GF at chess. Not exactly the most up-to-date decor or washrooms, but friendly staff, comfy chairs, and a good idea make up for it.
