One of the best spots in the city for dumplings and other Shanghai specialties. Well-worth the trip up to Villeray if you live downtown, or into the city outskirts if you live in the suburbs (convenient to the 40). The cucumber salad is refreshing and spicy. The egg and scallion ... pancake is not to be missed. The Zhao Long Bao (soup dumplings) are the best I've had in MTL; the soup is not a huge amount but is absolutely delicious, especially with the black vinegar and hot oil waiting on each table. Stab your dumpling, slurp up that soup, and then a few drops of vinegar and oil will help the dumpling go down very easily. I cannot wait to go back and try more items, like the steamed/fried/boiled dumplings, the noodles, and the Chinese calzone. If you can, go with a few people and share, so you can try a lot of dishes, because they are amazing. The place is small, clean, and modest, and so are the prices! The dough wasn't thick and dry. Good amount of filling and you get 15 pieces for each steamers. They have fish dumplings which isn't available in chinatown. Their fried one seems to be good too without been to greasy. I also liked their fungus salad but it may be a little ... too spicy if you're not used to it. You can also order other chinese meal such as stir-fry noodles and noodle soup. Owners are joyful but only the lady seems to speak english only. Don’t be fooled by the modest appearance. We entered to be greeted by the most enthusiastic restaurateur I have as of yet encountered. This guy was the host, server, and cook.
