La Bistrote - Montreal, Quebec

This is one of my favourite places in town for a quiet and yummy lunch or brunch. Go with friends, for business or alone... It's always so good! I have the western sandwich with a smoothie or large iced coffee, but their menu is very extensive!

A nice, quiet neighborhood café, with comforting, good quality sandwiches, salads, and personal pizzas. Closing hours are disconcertingly early, so if you're not in the neighborhood for breakfast or lunch, you're out of luck. That this place isn't more popular always surprises me, but hipster buzziness (which this place doesn't ... have) is often valued over quality (which it has in spades). Read more

I used to work at Guy & Notre Dame, and La Bistrote was a staple for our office for lunch. The staff are so friendly - miss you Dana! - and the food is delicious, it was a wonderful neighbourhood spot. As a regular, I always appreciated being recognized and ... greeted. We were so sad to lose it when our office moved to Mile End. My personal favourites were always the capreses pizza (delicious thin crust!) and the poseidon sandwich, but you really can't go wrong on the menu :) I see that post-construction (which finally ended!) they have added a little terasse out front, I'll have to come by this summer and sit outside! Refreshing for Notre-Dame; not crazy-expensive brunch/lunch like some of the other places on the street - just simple, delicious lunch-style stuff..mostly sandwiches/salads/etc. Really relaxed/cute atmosphere too.

Nice decor, fast and friendly service and delicious breakfast at a reasonable price!!! What more could you ask for? Had the B.E.L.T. sandwich and very flavourful potato wedges (crunchy on the outside fifty inside). They need to be ordered separately.
