I recently visited Chez Alexandre and had a great experience overall. The waitress and the service were amazing. However, my evening took a negative turn when the manager, who was working that Thursday night, was extremely rude and dismissive. He ignored my requests and even stated that he didn't have ... time to assist me, when the place is not even packed. Considering Im there once a week,, the least he could do was listen to my simple request for a lighter for the cigar I bought at the restaurant. Arrived on a busy Friday night on Grand Prix weekend, one of Montreal's biggest tourist events of the year. Reservation for 8 made well in advance. Atmosphere was good, lots of people, busy etc. - our group was generally optimistic when we entered. We were then escorted upstairs where no one else was ... seated, no ambiance at all, and hidden away in a corner. Waitress who appeared to be perhaps working her first night ever managed to get our very simple drink order very wrong. When asked about what cocktails the bartender could make, we were told (politely) that she didn't know because she doesn't drink. Ha! After 20 minutes of waiting and confusion we managed to get a few beers and 2 vodka sodas in hand. Ridiculous. We ordered calamari for an appetizer for the group. The pictured microwaved, frozen garbage was delivered - the plate as shown is untouched by us. An absolute embarrassment. Starving, we ate it. Got in our orders - nearly everyone requested the most generic steak bavette- 1 or 2 brave souls ventured outside the box and got lamb. After nearly 40 minutes most of the dinners arrived, all except mine (event was my bachelor party, incidentally). 10 minutes later my under cooked steak arrived when everyone else was finishing. We also had requested a cigar bar room as part of our reservation. I guess that was a waste of time, because all spaces were filled and we were never even given options on this front. Completely disregarded by the staff on this request. Thankfully, the other 2 nights we had reservations at real restaurants. This establishment is a joke, it was so pathetic we could only laugh. I go to Montreal for this weekend most years. Half the trip is about the food and culture of the city. rest assured, chez alexandre, I will never be coming back to this laughable dump of an establishment, I resent that my friends paid full price for late, cold, undercooked food, bad drinks and absolutely no charm, atmosphere, or redeeming qualities. You ignored our request, couldn't get anything right, and made less than 0 effort to make up for it. The very worst example of customer service and food quality I have ever seen in 15 years of visiting this city. The waitress, bless her heart, was at least earnestly trying her best. It's been 25 years since the last visit to this place. My wife and I went after the game. Atmosphere is nice, calm and peaceful. Decor is the old traditional Montreal feel (we enjoy it). If you do not like cigar smoke or have breathing issues... you may have to reassess, as ... they have a cigar bar upstairs. We have low expectations and gauge our experiences objectively, with the hopes this will improve the operations and thus improve the experience of future customers. I was going to order wings, but changed my mind. The wings are precoated without option. Normally a naked wing with option of sauce on side or tossed. We ordered 6 oysters, came on frozen plate ice👍 and I asked for lemon and hot sauce, which the grabbed🙏. Most disappointing was the charcuterie board. Do not order! $27.00 for what you see here. A double rum cost $28.22 Hendricks $16.00 We feel that the cost, didn't meet the experience. We unfortunately won't be back the next time we visit. Had Easter Brunch this Sunday with all my friends and had a bast!! They had a special easter menu that was So Good!! The people were so nice, good ambiance! Lucas was the waiter and was very sweet, even brought us his favorite dish for us to try :) Must ... go !! Read more

The staff of this restaurant are so sweet! They were pretty helpful with recommendations and the food was quick as well! We also had the mango and strawberry sorbet and it was really good!
