Check out TOP-10 Best Bar Food restaurants in Montreal, QuebecReviews for Imadake in Montreal, Quebec
I read that this is one of the best izakayas in Montreal but that was not my experience at all. There wasn't anything authentic about the food and there was something off about every dish. It felt like amateur hour in the kitchen. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and ramen. ... The "okay" dishes were the shrimp mayo and yukke, though both lacked refinement. The shrimps were big and fried well, but the pieces of nuts were chunky and odd. The yukke was seasoned well but the strands of beef made it look like it had been put through a meat grinder without being cut properly. It was just weird to be eating long, thick stings of beef. Everything else went downhill from there. The karaage was over fried, dry and not juicy. The okonomiyaki was literally pancake batter with a few tiny pieces of tako - it tasted like a bunch of takoyaki flattened into a pancake shape. The gindara cod was cooked well, but it was such a small piece and the marinade was overly sweet with no other flavour. It felt so homecooked. The worst offender was the ramen. We waited so long for this that we weren't really hungry anymore. But this has got to be the worst ramen I've eaten in my life. The broth was so thick and heavy that it tasted more like a stew. The noodles were undercooked and tasted like spaghetti. The chashu slices did not taste fresh. Neither of us could eat more than a few bites because it was just so bad! Honestly, my experience here has scarred me from trying out other Japanese places in Montreal if this is considered one of the "best"... Read more
A Wonderful Japanese Izakaya. Delicious food, variety of drink options, sake bombs, great atmosphere. Coat check at the front for easy sitting (chairs do not have backs but are very comfortable). All the staff are amazing. Cant wait to stop back next time I’m in town. Recommend!
Japanese restaurant with ramen that look and taste like the ones they make in Japan. Their menu is well-balanced and has plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. We ordered the grilled calamari and takoyaki as starters, then transitioned to a seasonal carbonara udon and the kuromiya ramen. All plates tasted ... amazing. In terms of atmosphere, I went with a 3 out of 5 because the place has a weird smell that I've never found in other establishments of similar cuisine; and it's very noise (which some people may like). Service was mediocre, with our server never looking at our table and taking forever to see what we needed. Overall, a 4 out of 5 - but still worth going again because of the delicious, authentic food. Read more
Me and my boyfriend went there 2 times already. The food is overall quite good, I had beef tongue for the first time of my life, it was tasty, the grilled calamari were okay, the ramen soup was quite nice, the broth had a lot of taste. For the drinks ... we had 3 cocktails from their cocktail menu, their Long Island ice tea, was mostly tasting gin with some floral infusion. Overall we had a great night, it’s worth the stop for the ambiance as well! Read more
Came here with a group of 5. We split 2 sake bottles and shared a number of plates. Everything was excellent including the service, and it was priced reasonably for the quality you’re getting. It’s a great place to be a little adventurous and try different things.
