Is it under new management or something?... Doesn't taste the same as it used too and now they charge for au gratin when it used to be included. Amazing food, great service and cozy atmosphere. We were visiting from out of town and staying in a nearby Airbnb that didn’t have a working fridge. Our server was kind enough to give us a cooler so that we could take our leftovers back to our rental and keep them ... cold enough to enjoy the next day. We had just arrived in Montreal and were looking for a place to eat lunch. We came upon Macbar and once inside were warmly greeted by Justin, who is one of the owners. Justin couldn’t have been more friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Not only was he very welcoming to us ... but he also prepared a deliciously decadent plate of classic mac n’ cheese. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite of this gooey, cheesy and flavorful masterpiece. Note: This place is newly reopened and takeout only. We highly recommend it. Food is very tasty and was thoroughly enjoyed; however, the service was slow and poor. There were three main problems: 1. Very slow service. It took them 15 minutes to bring us a menu, another 10 to take our order, and finally 45 minutes to prepare our food. The problem did ... not seem like shortage of staff, however. As you can see in the image attached, there were plenty of employees, but not one was actually doing work. All the tables were waiting and seemed furious. One group waited so long to have their invoice brought to them that just got up and paid at the register instead of waiting. 2. Our waitress was rude and did not seem to care much about our table. We had to beg her to bring us a menu, in fact, it was only after we asked multiple times that a completely different server brought us a menu. We also did not see her smile at all. 3. To be honest, I am not big fan of Mac and Cheese. When I heard that their Mac and cheese were delicious I decided to give it a try. Well, they were and I would most likely come again. There are a few things that I noticed however. First, I ... believe they are understaffed. There was a large group when I got there and only one waitress was taking their payments which took about 10mins. The second thing is that they have two entrances. From the outside it looks like two separate restaurants but the inside is connected. When I got in from the second door, i waited about 5mins and then walked all the way to the other side to get served. I think they should have someone standing close to the second entrance or at least have a sign to direct the people to the other side. Read more
