Bistro on the Avenue - Montreal, Quebec

Having previously eaten here and enjoyed myself, it was unfortunate that a large group for brunch has an abysmal experience. The kitchen was woefully unprepared, despite there being a reservation set several weeks earlier. 3 menu items and service happened in shifts, forcing people to eat at different times. Bacon ... and potatoes were undercooked, sauces were stingy in their servings, and the coffee was weak and one of the creamers had spoiled, turning the coffee into a clotted mess. Nice foods & great dinning place...Have to try!

First time in the restaurant since it reopened in Dec. Decor was well done and the menu interesting. Food was excellent and the staff very pleasant. Nice because it was quiet enough to carry on a conversation but felt alive with the background music. Will definitely be back

I once loved this establishment. I still love the setting and decor. My recent experience, however, continues to leave me feeling half-full at best. Last night the waitstaff were very kind and attentive. (With two of the bosses sitting at a table outside nearby) the cynic in me ... wondered if that had any influence. But it was the food and the pricing that are truly out of sync. For the prices they charge you would expect more than very mediocre food. They recently changed their menu and upped their prices but most items remained very average. The Cornish hen was one of the most tasteless I've had in a long time and I was wondering how fresh it was? (The takeout roast chicken at the Metro supermarket is better I am sorry to report). And given that the food is lacking luster I did not want to take a chance and spend $9.50 for a piece of Keylime pie. This establishment could do very well given it's location and given the dire need for good restaurants in Westmount. I wish that they would improve their standard of food. Oh well.... Read more

Happy Hour second drink 1/2 price. Nice friendly bar with great service and a professional clientele. Have only eaten at the bar and it's always good. The fish always looks and tastes fresh off boat.
