I was really excited to take the family out for poutine during our trip to Montreal in April 2024 and this did not disappoint. We have 2 pescatarians in our family and this place had plenty of options. I was pleasantly surprised that the gravy was vegan, which took care ... of a lot our issues. The poutine itself was delicious - fresh cheese curds and a ton of opportunity to customize it to your desires. May 7, 2024 in the evening we ordered one poutine with meat sauce for the three of us. We had just arrived in Canada and were on a modest budget at the moment. We decided to have a feast for ourselves. When we tried it, it was very spicy. Then ... we called the waiter and asked him if the classic Poutine was spicy too? He said no and offered us to replace the meat one with the classic one. We asked if we would have to pay for the second one. The waiter said no, only for the first one. We didn't eat the first one again and ate the second one. We agreed and thought the establishment was customer-oriented, but as if that wasn't the case. Then when the bill was brought to us, the payment included two poutine. We called the waiter and he presented a new version, like well you ate the first one so you have to pay. make your own poutine! this was definitely an experience that everyone should try in montréal. the portions were huge and no one was able to finish their meal. they also accommodated for my lactose intolerance, and there were vegan options :)
One must try a Poutin when in Québec region and we were not disappointed with the one we had at Poutinville. We ordered the large Russian Stroganoff Poutine to share between the two of us with Julienne fries. It was a very generous portion and better than I had expected! Some ... of the fries were still crispy underneath and was well matched with a gravy which was perfectly flavoured. The spring onion gave it a nice refreshing touch!
