Normally we order the deep dish for takeout but we wanted to try a sit in experience. Absolutely one of the best resturants in London. Food was excellent! We had the combo platter, and bbq chicken flatbread. The chili bowl, pizza, and cocktails were amazing. My gf loved her penne pasta ... dish. Price and service is spectacular. Read more
We tried her on our pizza tour! We are so glad we did! Amazing pizza...both deep dish and thin crust. Out of 5 stars this is how we feel about the pizza. Crust How did it taste and was it easy to wrangle? 4.5 both Sauce How likely would you be to eat this with a ... spoon? 4.5 Cheese Was there too much or too little cheese? Was it gross when it cooled down? 5 Toppings Ratio Was there enough of everything? Was anything too overpowering? 5 Value Is this a pizza you could afford to make a habit? 3.5 Charisma This is how all of the above comes together, and can include the restaurant and ambiance. 5 Total Rating How does this pizza compare to my favourite in the world? 4.5 My daughter and husband also tried the stuffed pickles and loved them. If you're in the mood for a pizza experience that's far from gourmet, Formaggio Pie Shack on Highbury Avenue might be the place for you. Unfortunately, my recent visit left much to be desired. For a price tag of $50, I was expecting something special, but what I received was ... far from it. The sauce tasted as though it had come straight from a can, lacking any depth or flavor that you'd expect from a homemade or even decent-quality restaurant sauce. The sausage and kielbasa toppings were of such low quality that they didn't contribute much to the overall taste of the pizza. But the biggest letdown was the cheese. It had a rubbery texture and an off-putting taste, making the entire dish hard to enjoy. It's possible that our experience was an anomaly, as we ordered on St. Patrick's Day, a time when the restaurant was unusually busy. Due to the crowd, our order was delayed, and perhaps the kitchen was overwhelmed. However, this does not excuse the poor quality of the food we received. Our deep-dish pizza, which we had high hopes for based on some enticing Google Review photos, turned out to be a major disappointment. It was essentially a dish filled with what seemed like canned tomato sauce topped with an excessive amount of low-quality cheese. Overall, Formaggio Pie Shack did not meet our expectations in any sense. We left feeling dissatisfied and regretting our choice. The pictures online had given us hope for a great meal, but the reality was quite the opposite. If you're looking for high-quality pizza, I would recommend exploring other options in London. This experience was a sad reminder that sometimes, photos can be deceiving. Read more
