If you're in the mood for a pizza experience that's far from gourmet, Formaggio Pie Shack on Highbury Avenue might be the place for you. Unfortunately, my recent visit left much to be desired. For a price tag of $50, I was expecting something special, but what I received was ... far from it. The sauce tasted as though it had come straight from a can, lacking any depth or flavor that you'd expect from a homemade or even decent-quality restaurant sauce. The sausage and kielbasa toppings were of such low quality that they didn't contribute much to the overall taste of the pizza. But the biggest letdown was the cheese. It had a rubbery texture and an off-putting taste, making the entire dish hard to enjoy. It's possible that our experience was an anomaly, as we ordered on St. Patrick's Day, a time when the restaurant was unusually busy. Due to the crowd, our order was delayed, and perhaps the kitchen was overwhelmed. However, this does not excuse the poor quality of the food we received. Our deep-dish pizza, which we had high hopes for based on some enticing Google Review photos, turned out to be a major disappointment. It was essentially a dish filled with what seemed like canned tomato sauce topped with an excessive amount of low-quality cheese. Overall, Formaggio Pie Shack did not meet our expectations in any sense. We left feeling dissatisfied and regretting our choice. The pictures online had given us hope for a great meal, but the reality was quite the opposite. If you're looking for high-quality pizza, I would recommend exploring other options in London. This experience was a sad reminder that sometimes, photos can be deceiving. Read more
