Kings Buffet - London, Ontario

If you have a big appetite looking for a good place to have lunch, King's Buffet is not a bad choice. Quite a bit cheaper than that "other" Chinese buffet place. We went in on a Monday and it was not busy at all. They do ... not have a huge selection of food but got all the standard fares. Over all food quality is decent. There are pieces of chicken kebab that are visibly not as fresh as some and some dessert pastries seems a bit old, not as flaky as fresh ones. Decent amount of items to choose from. Fair price. Nice service. Has complementary prices for birthdays. Can acomodate large groups. The salad table is settled to allow you to make your own salad which is great. Has a cold seafood and sushi table, not too crowded but varied. A flait ... iron for beef carvery, two hots tables and two desserts and fruits tables. Have not tried the soups yet but two big soup caceroles are also displayed. The icecream its the best chose from deserts. All other items are kind of average. Similar to any other all you can eat, but way more accesible than Mandarin. The price for beberages are not that high. The ambience its nice, servers are attentive. Has free parking. Clean restrooms. Fixed price; kids 2 and under costs only $2cads, and up to 11 half price. The parking kts wheel chair accesible. Can be a healthy and nonexpensive choise if not in the mood for a fast ang varied meal. Definetly recommended for once every now and then. Rice tastes like it's been soaked in soy sauce. The shrimp is good, but that's all. The dessert isn't even made in-house, except MAYBE the powdered pudding. Great selection, but poor quality; I had hoped this would be similar to Uncle Willy's Buffet in BC, but it's not even close. ... Save yourself the disappointment, and visit Mandarin or 168 instead. I knew it was going to be bad because they are all bad but oh man they didn't disappoint. We were apart of a larger party of at least 10 and were the first to arrive. They seated us in the wrong area despite us telling them we were with ... this group with this reservation. Once that was solved my wife found plastic in her food, one of the desserts had a weird skin on it because it was sitting so long, the ice cream was half melted, and the onions in the rice were raw, like seriously uncooked raw onions. While it hasn't happened yet, I can only assume that food poisoning will strike me and my wife down and we will be laying on the bathroom floor waiting for the sweet relief of death.
