The Tasting Room - London, Ontario

This is another nice restaurant in downtown. Spacious from the inside. Servers are good and attentive. Food is pricey but very okish taste. Nothing special they have, did not like any of the dishes that I ordered The taste is not mesmerizing or tasteful enough to enjoy any dish that's what I felt. Quantity ... is fine on the other hand. Good with no clear misses, but nothing astounding or excellent. Beef carpaccio accompaniments are good, horseradish cream in particular is nice. Beef itself is decent quality. Garlic artichoke dip is delicious but perhaps a bit light on the artichoke itself - flavours are mostly garlic and cheese. Extra toast was complimentary. Grilled ribeye ... was also quite good. Nice char on it and they separated it for us into two separate plates which I really appreciated. Garlic mash was delicious and green beans were sweet, albeit slightly overcooked. I also would have preferred a different type of compound butter instead of chipotle. Actually quite a good deal to split it between two people as the main. Overall, no real complaints. All the food was good and the service was attentive, it's just nothing here is particularly innovative or unique nor the best version of any of these foods I've eaten before. Read more

Classic dishes done well. We had the calamari, steak tips, olives and spinach and artichoke dip to start. Calamari was lightly dusted and crispy and well seasoned. Steak tips were tender and flavourful. Artichoke dip was luscious. Wish the olives were warm. Mains were rack of lamb, beef cheeks, crab ... stuffed chicken and the seafood pasta. My lamb was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Everyone enjoyed their mains. All meats served with green beans, meh. Service was great, perhaps a tad slow but it was a very busy night and we weren’t in a rush. Will go back. Read more

The food was so good! My favourite was the mac and cheese (very cheesy) appetizer during lunch. I also really liked the grilled cheese since it had pesto in it (tasted the same as Starbucks’ tomato and mozzarella on focaccia sandwich). First timer. Went there for wedding anniversary based on Google reviews. We weren’t disappointed. Excellent service. Food was absolutely splendid, off the charts. Our server Nanette (?) was very attentive to our needs. A bit noisy closer to the bar but we tolerated it well. We had coconut shrimp and crab ... cakes for appetizers with rack of lamb and grilled ribeye for entree’s. I highly recommend this establishment. If you’re looking for a (really) quiet evening with your date this might not work for you. Read more
